I was SO looking forward to the Creation Tour’s Supernatural con in Boston in June – Jared Padalecki wasn’t able to be at either of the other two 2026 cons so far, so this was the first time I’d be seeing Jared and Jensen onstage together since the fall of 2025. That is WAY too long!
It’s only a short flight – literally too short for even a soda – and miraculously it was even on time, so Thursday was a good day. I got set up in the vendor room and then joined a friend for a lovely dinner on the outdoor patio of the hotel restaurant. The clam chowder was of course delicious (as was the dessert)!
Friday I caught a little bit of the Matt Cohen and Gil McKinney panel, two of my favorite people If you haven’t seen Matt’s new film ‘Exes’, starring him and Briana Buckmaster, what are you waiting for? It’s streaming on Prime Video or wherever you stream your entertainment.
For some reason, Matt was letting everyone know he is definitely not a soup fan. I mean, look at that face.
What he would like is to be on the new The Boys prequel, Vought Rising, along with Jensen Ackles. He has the look for sure – what do you say, Kripke?
Speaking of being perfect for a part, Gil auditioned for Mad Men – he definitely has the look.
Matt told Gil the story of when a doctor looked into Jensen Ackles’ ears and went on and on about how he had perfect ear canals.
Matt: That is the most aggravating thing I’ve ever heard.
Gil: It’s just unnecessary.
Matt: He’s handsome, he’s nice, he’s talented, he’s kind… and he’s got perfect ear canals? (kicks him offstage metaphorically)
Hilariously, Matt shared that Grok called him “the Temu Jensen Ackles” hahaha.
One willow wish?
Gil: For Henry Winchester to have had more episodes!
I also caught a little of Ruth Connell’s panel – Rob greeted her with the most adorable hug.
Ruth was surprised to get off the plane and find men in kilts – and also someone who was from where she grew up!
She talked about something I’ve thought about often – how instrumental the casting agency was in making Supernatural the wonderful show and set it ended up being. She gave props to Robert Ulrich for that incredible casting.
What’s Rowena up to now?
Ruth (with a cheeky grin): She’s down there making Hell great again!
She also talked about her character.
Ruth: (Writer) Eugenie described Rowena as a woman who had a passion and is really good at it. Women have been that for centuries and not appreciated for it.
I love how thoughtful ALL the cast is about their characters, truly.
Saturday was another delicious dinner at the hotel restaurant with friends – it’s one of the most wonderful things about cons that I get to hang out with people who love Supernatural as much as I do, and spend an evening talking about it!
Then it was time for the Saturday Night Special, which was actually on Friday in Boston for a change – and introduced by Sebastian Roche.
In addition to the always amazing Louden Swain, we got to enjoy Gil McKinney’s beautiful voice.
We also got some Rockstar Briana Buckmaster and some Billy Moran from his solo album.
Mark Sheppard joined the band on drums – really, what were the chances that SO many of the Supernatural cast are so musically talented?? Is this Robert Ulrich’s secret brilliance again??
High five, drummer to drummer!
It was Mike Borja’s birthday, and Billy brought out a cute little cupcake with a candle for him so we could all sing to him.
Happy birthday, Mike!
Mark Sheppard joined in for ‘Medicated’, kazoo and all!
It still makes me emotional that the SPN Family came close to losing both Rob Benedict and Mark Sheppard. Rob had a serious stroke at a convention in Toronto over a decade ago, saved in part because his SPNFamily were there for him – he writes about it in a dramatic and emotional chapter in the book ‘Family Don’t End With Blood’. Mark Sheppard had a serious heart attack a few years ago and almost didn’t make it. Now the two from time to time do a ‘life check’ on each other, making sure they are now both healthy. I cannot imagine the cons or the family without them!
Saturday was Misha Collins’ panel as always – it started out in an interesting way with Misha and Borja re-enacting the time Misha hurt his arm and needed Borja to buckle his belt, which required him getting down on his knees and… looked very interesting…
https://x.com/FangasmSPN/status/2065841195008344482?s=20
Misha always has a lot of great stories, but he told us to ask Jensen to tell the one about the Boston flight attendant. Misha was laughing just remembering it.
Misha: Never was there a time when I thought, this is gonna be iconic, people are gonna reference this over and over again. Now there are probably a dozen people in this room wearing a tee shirt that says My People Skills Are Rusty!
Fan: I have it on a keychain.
Misha: While we’re filming them, nobody is like, might wanna put a little more thought into the delivery, it’s gonna be an iconic line. So you throw it away just like all the other lines, because you’re an untalented hack and then it’s like omg, people are still referencing that. I was like hey this can’t be right – Hey Assbut? I’ve never heard that before. They said no, we asked Eric and he said that’s right, so I was like, okay. Now there are quite a few people who have Hey Assbutt tattoed on them!
https://x.com/FangasmSPN/status/2065844164500029634?s=20
Misha told a hilarious story about his wedding in Maine that included the sheriff of a town called Friendship threatening to arrest them! (Apparently not all that friendly…)
Misha has taken to wearing one blue and one red shoelaces on his boots and I find it kind of adorable, so here’s my red and blue laced boot appreciation photo.
Misha on Cas: He was always searching for some version of family or some version of connection or love and I think he finally found it, and he did so by finally being honest with himself.
https://x.com/FangasmSPN/status/2065848427552854136?s=20
Misha talked about how seeing this fandom create community brings him hope for humanity. He writes about that in his chapter in the book ‘Family Don’t End With Blood’ too.
Favorite scene to film? That time Jared and Jensen got kicked off their own set because he couldn’t stop laughing at their antics.
Misha said he loves the Cas confession meme with Cas saying ‘I love you’ and Dean saying random things in return. (This cast sees way too much!)
Misha gave some support to the Megstiel shippers out there, answering the question of what else would he have liked to see of Meg and Castiel’s relationship with “probably full penetration.”
Misha: The connection was just lip to lip, but there was so much more to explore there.
Saturday night was karaoke, which made it seem like Friday to those of us accustomed to the familiar schedule. Samantha Smith rocked out to ‘Livin’ On A Prayer’ like the Jersey girl she is.
DJ Qualls always goes all out with his costumes and I love it!
Karaoke was a lot of fun as always, and then suddenly it was Sunday – and that meant the gold panel with Jared and Jensen. I hadn’t seen Jared since the beginning of November 2025, so this panel felt incredibly special. There’s no energy like these two on stage together and I had missed it SO much!
It was clear that they had too. Within a few minutes, Jensen realized that Jared was uncomfortable due to a tag left on his hoodie, so in his best big brother fashion, he pulled it off for him.
Jared: That feels so much better!
Jensen (reading the tag): Extra small…
Jared: Extra medium!
Jensen: It’s the Michigan coat. In case any of you were out there asking, what’s Jared wearing today? It’s a Carharrt Michigan coat. Extra medium.
Lol
https://x.com/FangasmSPN/status/2066176830566981769?s=20
Someone asked about their best revenge as a parent according to your parent.
Jared: Odette!
He looked at a grinning Jensen: You know that, Jensen!
Jensen and Jared talked about how much they trust Eric Kripke and his storytelling. Jensen gave an example of a scene in ‘The Boys’ that he wasn’t quite comfortable with and went to Kripke about.
Jensen: He was like okay, let’s find a way to keep the essence of that scene and just do it in a way you’re more comfortable with. And he found it. At first he was like, we’ll just cut the scene, but I said no because I think it actually is a great character moment for the character, and he was like, I agree, let me figure out a way to do it without making you do certain things.
Jared: I think y’all know the scene.
Jensen: So he’s very collaborative in that regard. He understands what message he’s trying to get across with the dialogue and the action in every scene. It’s never just for the sake of shock and awe. Once he finds what the story is trying to tell, then he takes it to eleven.
https://x.com/FangasmSPN/status/2066178662978683226?s=20
That’s why we love him!
Jared talked about traveling and says he brings home Pokemon cards for the kids whenever he’s away. Awwww.
Jensen said that his oldest JJ always says “be safe” when he travels, and he always says “I’ll be back.” Awwww.
Per Misha’s instruction, someone asked Jensen to tell the Boston flight attendant story.
Jensen: So I was standing close to the gate and a new plane was coming in and they had to deboard it, clean it, and then they would board us up. And everybody is like ahhh, it’s like 2 hours past when we were supposed to leave, and she gets on the intercom system. ‘All right, the plane’s here, we’re gonna deboard the plane, when you guys get on the plane, don’t fuck around with your bags, put ‘em up, sit down and we’ll get outta here!” And I’m like, did she just drop an F bomb on the intercom in the middle of the airport?
Jared: Meanwhile, none of the Bostonians were like…
Jensen: Nobody flinched, and I’m like, my virgin Texas ears were like OMG you can’t say that! And I’m looking at her thinking certainly she’s gonna realize she just did that, and she’s just like (unconcerned) and I’m like OMG I love Boston!
https://x.com/FangasmSPN/status/2066181161261359418?s=20
One of my favorite things is when Jared and Jensen reminisce fondly about their time on Supernatural. They looked back on times when one of them broke the other, one of their favorite pasttimes.
Jared: And I couldn’t get the line out, I forget what it was, so I just went shubeubybuhbuh… And he (Jensen) breaks on camera – it’s really hard to break him, it’s impossible break Jim Beaver but you’re second best – the penultimate.
Jensen: I think it was either Jim or Misha, we were in a triangle formation, Jared, myself and then Jim, and the camera is here and it’s doing a slow push in on Jim. It was past the two of us, split between us, and this is a serious scene and as the camera moves and I’m talking to Jared really intense, and the camera comes and splits in between us, but there are little spaces that you can see between the camera and as Jared’s talking to me he bends down and I can just see one eye and then it moves and you can see it again and he did it every take!
Jared: Is laughing
https://x.com/FangasmSPN/status/2066182712046530798?s=20
They also laughed as they reminisced about the time they had Sam and Dean turn in for the night walking into a bedroom and then making lots of suggestive noises – and eventually got kicked off their own set.
Jared: We get to the room and Castiel and Jack are still on camera. We’re not in the rest of the scene so we get to the room and start going ahhhh ahhhh, and Nina the director is like okay, that’s a wrap on Jared and Jensen and she sent us home.
Jensen: Yeah, she kicked us off the set!
Jared: We deserved it.
https://x.com/FangasmSPN/status/2066183113110093908?s=20
Jensen complimented Jared on his ad libs.
Jensen: That might’ve been some of the greatest comedy writing off the cuff. He probably went through a dozen different scenarios, like never trust a fart after forty. This guy was like, it was incredible, it was like a roast it was so good. That’s one of my favorites, and I guess all time for me is probably Eye of the Tiger.
Both of them cracked up recalling one time when Ruth actually broke when Rowena was doing a spell that was something something vulva lol.
Jared: Speaking of Ruthie, another blooper that makes me laugh when I watch it, Season 15 like the first episode and we’re all in a cave hiding from zombies or something and Rowena’s line is ‘it’s a spell of my own devising, something something vulva’ and I kept on looking at her like, If it’s a spell of your own devising, you couldn’t have named it something different? What’s wrong with you? It’s very hard to make her break – and him break.
https://x.com/FangasmSPN/status/2066226183297990716?s=20
Honestly nothing is more happy making than Jared and Jensen reminiscing about my favorite show and sharing fond laughs as they remember.
Later on Sunday we had a real treat – Shoshannah Stern! Shoshannah wrote one of my favorite chapters in There’ll Be Peace When You Are Done, all about her powerful experience playing Eileen on Supernatural. She was an absolute pleasure to work with – and she’s a great writer!
Shoshannah: Jared was very collaborative and so was Jensen, and it was natural as time went on that the characters started to sign a little.
She demonstrated the sign for Jared, that emphasizes his warmth and inclusiveness, and for Jensen (his face is symmetrical) and for Misha (his blue eyes).
The con was a reunion for Shoshannah and Richard Speight, Jr. too, who worked together even before Supernatural.
I also caught a little of Mark Sheppard’s panel.
Mark: We love Supernatural because we love the Winchesters, and we love Cas and Crowley because they love the Winchesters.
He shared some on set shenanigans.
Mark: When Crowley was giving his speech before Dean wakes up a demon, Jensen and Jared were done for the day and maybe had some whisky and Jensen suddenly sat up and screamed. I nearly pissed myself!
He also gave a shout out to one of my favorite shows of the last few years, Walker Independence.
Mark: Walker Independence would have been so much better unfettered on a streamer.
And then it was time for the main panel with Jared and Jensen. I think they might have missed each other…
Apropos of the constant ship angsting in the fandom, in the first few minutes of the panel they essentially said “ship whatever you want.” Okay, fandom? If they can say that, can we say that too?
There was also J2 chaos, naturally. Jensen let everyone know his coffee was hot in the middle of Jared giving an answer about AI.
Jared had to feel it for himself.
Jared said he doesn’t use AI even if maybe he should. He also said he saw Jensen’s graduation speech and it was awesome – and no, Jensen did not use AI for that either!
I do not know why this answer started with Jared charging Jensen’s battery, but here we are.
Jared: I agree with Ackles.
Jensen: You know what? Here’s my battery charger right here.
https://x.com/FangasmSPN/status/2066273612336664713?s=20
Here’s both of them being amused to find out that the character CJ that Jensen played on Dawson’s Creek – his last name was Braxton.
They both said they decided early on that they were better as friends than as prank adversaries on Supernatural.
Jensen: We realized we are better as friends than foes.
Jared: We also realized that neither one of us fucking around with each other was gonna quit, we were gonna keep raising the stakes. It was like oh shit, we should probably stop, because if I do this then he’ll raise the bar and then I’ll raise the bar and this probably won’t end well, so we stopped pretty quickly.
https://x.com/FangasmSPN/status/2066277431892222179?s=20
Jensen expressed his grumpiness over the fact that the kids started the 6-7 thing and now they say he can’t use it anymore. Grumpy dad Jensen is so cute. Jared consoled him.
Jared talked about re-meeting Jack Quaid on The Boys when he joined the cast at a restaurant during filming.
Jared: Jack Quaid is awesome, obviously we didn’t work together, but he’s really sweet. And to this dude’s credit, he comes up and says Jensen says what an awesome dude you are and I’m so bummed we didn’t get to work together, it’s nice to meet you…
Jensen: Well, I didn’t say all that…
Jared: And I’m like buddy….
There was a strange sound just then, and Jared and Jensen both paused – and fell into Sam and Dean mode, much to my delight.
Jared: Do you smell sulphur?
Jensen: Salt gun!
Jared: And Jack’s like dude, Jensen loves you, you’re from Texas, yada yada nice to meet you and I go man, nice to re-meet you. I said you and I played soccer on the sand dunes of Namibia in 2004 when you were like two, because Dennis Quaid was the lead in Flight of the Phoenix and they brought Jack out and he was like bored and I was like well I’m not in this scene so we were kicking the soccer ball around.
https://x.com/FangasmSPN/status/2066279030806974965?s=20
One of the most feel-good things about any con and about Jared and Jensen panels is that they are openly appreciative of their unique and long-standing friendship, and it’s so heartwarming.
Jared: We were spending basically all day with each other for nine months of the year for fifteen years
Jensen: It’s like sitting next to the same kid (in school) that entire time.
Jared: And also living together at times, but also school is 7 hours, we did 16 or 18 hour days, then they’d drive us to the airport to fly to LA to do some press or photo shoot, and so we’ve been with each other through the death of his grandma and my grandma, and births and deaths and marriages and divorces from friends. So we’ve been through a bunch of shit and I feel like no one will ever be a fan of Jensen the way I’m a fan of Jensen.
Jensen: pats Jared’s knee
Jared: pats Jensen’s hand
Jared: I’ll be 44 next month, he’s like 85, at a certain point in time you kinda become who you’re meant to become, but like the 20s and 30s, you’re exploring shit. So we were together exploring shit, I don’t know what life’s gonna look like, maybe we get picked up, maybe we don’t, we didn’t know.
https://x.com/FangasmSPN/status/2066280378365599789?s=20
Jared made a lot of fans happy by saying he would like to do more TV – yes please!
A fan asked who would win, Soldier Boy and Mr. Marathon or Sam and Dean? They said Soldier Boy and Mr. Marathon would beat Sam and Dean, alas.
Jared: I mean, you got killed by rebar!
He had to give Jensen a hug after that.
Jared’s endless pursuit of a rim shot from Norton was also a highlight of the panel.
As were there bouts of laughter, invariably leaving me with a huge smile on my face too.
The last question fan brought hers written down, much to Jared’s shock.
Were there shenanigans when Jared and Jensen were on The Boys?
Fan to Jensen: it was mainly your show at that point.
Jensen: No it was not! There were no shenanigans between Jared and I…
Jared: He punched me in the face!
Jensen: Well, that was on purpose…
Jensen: No, we were guests in someone else’s house so we were trying to behave ourselves. That cast did mess with each other quite a bit, but I never got overly involved with that. There were a few times that Karl got me but I was smart not to retaliate heavy handedly.
https://x.com/FangasmSPN/status/2066297361752539601?s=20
There was so much laughter at this panel!
I love how when Jensen is excited about something, he looks about 5 years old.
All too soon, the panel was ending.
Jared and Jensen conferred about who goes which way to sign the banners (spoiler alert, it’s always the same directions), then thanked the fans.
My flight home was mercifully short and miraculously on time so I could go straight to work like the reckless fangirl I am, but did I regret the trip? Not even a little! It did my soul good to see Jared, Jensen, Misha and the rest of the SPN cast as well as many friends I hadn’t seen since January or even longer. Next stop, one of my hometown cons – New Jersey in August!
You can find the books that tell the story of Supernatural and the SPNFamily, with chapters by the actors including Jared, Jensen, Misha, Mark, and many of the other cast at this convention, at the website below. Family Don’t End With Blood and There’ll Be Peace When You Are Done benefit two suicide prevention charities and Random Acts, but they are also moving and emotional books about what this experience has meant to all of us, both the actors and the fans.

I’m so upset that I can’t go to the Orlando. Shame on Creation for scheduling it on Rosh Hashanah. I need my SPN fix. Great recap. Boston is one of my favorite cities
Thanks again, Lynn, for bringing us along. Great memories. Still hoping to go some day.
