Happy Holidays and a Special Offer from Fangasm!

IMG_8719

We wanted to take a minute to thank everyone who follows us here on our blog, on Facebook or on Twitter – we love hearing your thoughts on Supernatural and fans, and are honored to share this awesome fandom with each and every one of you. If you’re looking for something to put on your wish list this holiday season, we’ve got a 20% discount for you if you buy our first book on Supernatural and its fans, Fandom At The Crossroads, from the publisher! Order online at c-s-p.org using the login: fandom, and the password: fandom20%.

Crossroads is also available in paperback at amazon.com here.

Here’s what television critic Maureen Ryan had to say about Crossroads: “A witty, thoughtful and intelligent guide to the nature of fandom and the endless varieties of the fan experience. As Dean Winchester would say, ‘They get it’.”

Crossroads isn’t all our thoughts though. Jared, Jensen, Misha, Jim, Richard, Gabe, Matt, Todd, Eric Kripke, Sera Gamble and others contributed their (surprisingly candid) insights about the show, the fans and the experience of being fanned. We also confess to including some very pretty pictures of the boys. (You’d be shocked if we didn’t, right?)

For those of you who are academically inclined (or just interested in the phenomenon of fandom), our edited collection, Fan Culture: Theory/Practice, is also available at c-s-p.org or at amazon.com here.

And be on the lookout for the first issue of the Journal of Fandom Studies. It’s a special issue on Forrest J Ackerman, Famous Monsters of Filmland, and its fans and includes an essay by Henry Jenkins in which he reminisces about some of his own childhood fandoms. You can download articles from the first issue here.

Whatever and whenever you celebrate, happy holidays!

  • hello – lovely photo of the boys. thank you for the discount; i’ll let my friends who don’t already own your book know.
    happy holidays to you both!

  • Bitchin’ photo!! I’m ordering Fan Culture for my library, and of course I’ve already purchased Fandom at the Crossroads. I wish I could subscribe to the journal but my serials budget is frozen. That’s going to be the case with a lot of libraries, unfortunately.

  • I want your Fan Culture book, but it’s the wrong time of year to spend that much on myself. Looks like I have to wait a while…
